4th Grade Move Up | ||

Description: | This is an annual event for Memorial Schools 4th grade students in recognition of their graduating or "moving up" to middle school. This event takes place each June. The committee is responsible for organizing student gifts, class gift to the school, coordinating refreshments and clean up for the event, keeping 4th grade parents informed, and working with the 4th grade teachers and music teacher or whatever else is needed. Some years a slide show and/or yearbook has been created for distribution to each student and parent permission is required for such activities. |

5th Grade Ice Cream Social | ||

Description: | This event takes place the first week of school in September. It is a time we welcome the incoming 5th grade students to High Mountain School. The committee is in charge of ordering the ice cream, organizing what needs to be done that day, serving the students and clean up. Traditionally, a banner is created beforehand and the 5th graders sign or add their handprint. |

5th Grade L.E.A.D. Graduation | ||

Description: | This is an annual event at which time the 5th grade class celebrates completion of the L.E.A.D. program (formerly D.A.R.E. program, whish is run by NH D.A.R.E./L.E.A.D. officers). This committee organizes refreshments and whatever else is needed the evening of the ceremony. |

8th Grade Class of 2021 | ||

Description: | This committee is made up of all the 8th grade parents who wish to participate in the organzation of all the fun things planned for their child's 8th grade year. The committee should be led by at least 2 8th grade parent chairs and 1 treasurer. These individuals will organize subcommittees and are the liaisons between the parents and administration. The committee as a whole is responsible for organizing fundraisiers and collecting parent contributions for all that goes on during 8th grade (bus and meals for overnight trip, graduating class photo, "The Dance", graduation flowers, post-graduation breakfast, student gifts, teacher gifts, legacy gift, and more.) |

This fundraiser raises Scholastic Dollars to be used for books for our school. Description: | This is an annual fundraiser that usually takes place in the beginning of the school year, September/October in both schools. This has usually been a sale of knick knacks, gift items, gift wrap, candy, etc. This committee is responsible for sourcing ideas for this fundraiser, sending out packets, collecting and tallying orders, and distributing orders when they come in. |

Family Directory publication | ||

Description: | We need your help with the creation of the Annual NHPTO Family Directory. It is a hard copy publication of North Haledon student families, plus calendar, committees and committee chair info, district administration, teachers and class lists. The Committee Chairperson for this committee is responsible obtaining teacher/class/school information and organizing the project, working with printing company and distribution. We need volunteers to do data entry and layout of the directory (a great chance to be creative!), proofreading and distributing it to those who purchased one. Thank you. |

Family Fun Night 1 - Volleyball Game | ||

Description: | This is an annual fundraiser that takes place mid-winter (Feb. or March). It is a fun night for students and parents to come out and watch our teachers, members of the BOE, D.A.R.E. officers, the NHPD, NHFD and 8th grade students compete against each other. ***8th Grade PARENTS are encouraged to participate!*** The committee chairperson(s) is responsible for setting the date, getting the word out, selling tickets, organizing the teams, and organizing volunteers to sell tickets and refreshments, etc. |

It is for MES students and their siblings and take place at HMS. In the past, we have gotten a DJ, science or magic show, candy for car trunks, photo area, games & contests, snacks for the children, pumpkin decorating and/or anything else that would be fun for the children. Description: | This is an annual event for High Mountain School students that usually takes place spring. This program gives students an opportunity entertain all those who attend. For several years kids performed "Lyp Sync", Spring 2013 they performed "Annie", then "Peter Pan", then "Willy Wonka", 2016 was "The Little Mermaid", & 2017 was a Talent Show. The committee is responsible for selling tickets, organizing volunteers for hair and make-up, technical assistance, booster/ads in the program, "Kisses for the Cast", props & scenery, assistance with costumes and refreshments for that evening/s, and anything else that is needed. The children and performances are organized by designated teachers. |

Move-A-Thon - Memorial School | ||

Description: | This event for Memorial School students takes place in the spring at the school. In 2014 the traditional Walk-A-Thon was changed to a "Move-A-Thon". The “Move-A-Thon” is an alternate way of getting the kids up and moving to different stations in a form of “circuit" training that is fun. The students also have the opportunity to be an active participant in raising money for special events and programs that the North Haledon PTO organizes at their school by collecting pledges for the circuits they complete. The committee chairperson(s) for this event is responsible for working the school administration on date, time, booking and organizing the days activities; as well as organizing volunteers to help out the day of the event. |

A limited number of children are able to participate, so if you are interested in volunteering you may want to wait to see if your child is a participant. Some suggestions in the past have been to have music piped in and decorate the entrance. Superintendent approval is required for PR. |
