4th Grade Move Up
Chair:   Co-Chairs, Maria Marano & Evelyn Mannino 
Description:  

This is an annual event for Memorial Schools 4th grade students in recognition of their graduating or "moving up" to middle school. This event takes place each June.

The committee is responsible for organizing student gifts, class gift to the school, coordinating refreshments and clean up for the event, keeping 4th grade parents informed, and working with the 4th grade teachers and music teacher or whatever else is needed.

Some years a slide show and/or yearbook has been created for distribution to each student and parent permission is required for such activities.

 
5th Grade Ice Cream Social
Chair:   Trish Febbo, Jessica Matos & Ro Nativo, Co-Chairs
Description:  

This event takes place the first week of school in September.  It is a time we welcome the incoming 5th grade students to High Mountain School.

The committee is in charge of ordering the ice cream, organizing what needs to be done that day, serving the students and clean up.

Traditionally, a banner is created beforehand and the 5th graders sign or add their handprint.

 
5th Grade L.E.A.D. Graduation

Description:  

This is an annual event at which time the 5th grade class celebrates completion of the L.E.A.D. program (formerly D.A.R.E. program, whish is run by NH D.A.R.E./L.E.A.D. officers). 

This committee organizes refreshments and whatever else is needed the evening of the ceremony.

 
8th Grade Class of 2018
Chair:   Kim Checinski, Gini Panzera & Heather Venezia; Lisa Antropow, Treasurer
Description:  

This committee is made up of all the 8th grade parents who wish to participate in the organzation of all the fun things planned for their child's 8th grade year. The committee should be led by at least 2 8th grade parent chairs and 1 treasurer. These individuals will organize subcommittees and are the liaisons between the parents and administration.  The committee as a whole is responsible for organizing fundraisiers and collecting parent contributions for all that goes on during 8th grade (bus and meals for overnight trip, graduating class photo, "The Dance", graduation flowers, post-graduation breakfast, student gifts, teacher gifts, legacy gift, and more.)

 
Book Fair at High Mountain School

Description:  

This is an annual fundraiser at High Mountain School which takes place for one week in usually in January.  This fundraiser raises Scholastic Dollars to be used for books for our school.

This committee chairperson(s) will work with Scholastic Books and school administration on scheduling the date of the sale and organizing Volunteers to set up the books, be present during the week-long sale to man the register(s), organizing orders and breaking down at the end.

This is an annual fundraiser at Memorial School which takes place one week in the Fall (and again in the Spring) this school year. This fundraiser raises Scholastic Dollars to be used for books for our school.

This committee chairperson(s) will work with Scholastic Books and school administration on scheduling the date of the sale, assigning a classroom for the sale, setting up the books, organizing helpers for week-long sale, organizing orders and breaking down at the end.

Dining Out Nights

Description:  

This committee organizes dining out events at local restaurants in order to raise money for the NHPTO. Schedules the place(s) and gets the word out the the North Haledon School families. Several "Dining Out" nights are held throughout the school year.

 
End of Year Ice Cream Party/Celebration Day - Memorial
Chair:   District Administration, Chair: Trisha Febbo Co-Chairs: Dina O'Donnell & Gini Panzera
Description:  

This committee is responsible for purchasing ice cream and organizing volunteers to help set-up, serve and clean up at Memorial School. This event usually takes place in June also depends on admistration. This may also be called Celebration Day and may be coordinated by only the school administration.

 
Fall Fundraiser
Chair:   Co-Chairs, Jessica Tomasi & Janessa DeJesus
Description:  

This is an annual fundraiser that usually takes place in the beginning of the school year, September/October in both schools. This has usually been a sale of knick knacks, gift items, gift wrap, candy, etc.

This committee is responsible for sourcing ideas for this fundraiser, sending out packets, collecting and tallying orders, and distributing orders when they come in.

We are excited to offer a new vendor this 2017-2018 school year! More details to follow.

 
Family Directory publication
Chair:   Tawnya Stojakovic
Description:  

We need your help with the creation of the Annual NHPTO Family Directory. It is a hard copy publication of North Haledon student families, plus calendar, committees and committee chair info, district administration, teachers and class lists.

The Committee Chairperson for this committee is responsible obtaining teacher/class/school information and organizing the project, working with printing company and distribution.

We need volunteers to do data entry and layout of the directory (a great chance to be creative!), proofreading and distributing it to those who purchased one.  Thank you.

 
Family Fun Night 1 - Volleyball Game
Chair:   TBD 8th Grade Parent. Co-Chair: Jennifer Stuber 
Description:  

This is an annual fundraiser that takes place mid-winter (Feb. or March). It is a fun night for students and parents to come out and watch our teachers, members of the BOE, D.A.R.E. officers, the NHPD, NHFD and 8th grade students compete against each other.

***8th Grade PARENTS are encouraged to participate!***

The committee chairperson(s) is responsible for setting the date, getting the word out, selling tickets, organizing the teams, and organizing volunteers to sell tickets and refreshments, etc.

 
Family Fun Night 2 - Skating at the Ice Vault

Description:  

This is a fun night for student and their families to have some fun together.  This event usually takes place just before Spring Break.

The committee chairperson(s) is in charge of the date, which usually is sometime before Spring break, getting the word out, organizing volunteers to sell tickets and organizing the evening's events.

 
Field Day - Memorial School

Description:  

This event for the Memorial School students usually takes place in June and the Chair would work with administration on this event.

 
HMS Spring Performance

Description:  

This is an annual event for High Mountain School students that usually takes place spring. This program gives students an opportunity entertain all those who attend. 2017-2018 school year will be a play or musical.

For several years kids performed "Lyp Sync", Spring 2013 they performed "Annie", then "Peter Pan", then "Willy Wonka", 2016 was "The Little Mermaid", & 2017 was a Talent Show.

The committee is responsible for selling tickets, organizing volunteers for hair and make-up, technical assistance, booster/ads in the program, "Kisses for the Cast", props & scenery, assistance with costumes and refreshments for that evening/s, and anything else that is needed. The children and performances are organized by designated teachers.

 
Holiday Shop - Memorial School

Description:  

The Holiday Shop, for Memorial School students, is set up each November. It gives children an opportunity to shop for holiday gifts for family and friends.

The committee chairperson(s) is responsible for working with vendor on booking date and ordering items, setting up items. organzing people to sell items and help children make purchases at week-long at the school, and break down at the end of the week.

 
Hospitality

Description:  

The committee chairperson(s) is responsible for organizing volunteers to provide, set-up, serve and clean-up refreshments at various PTO events.

 
Kindergarten Carnival

Description:  

This event is for Memorial School kindergarten students. It usually takes place in May/June.

The committee chairperson(s) is responsible for organizing fun and games, parent volunteers, water for the children, all that is needed for a fun day outside.

In the past the children had bouncy houses, magician and/or other show, arts & crafts, DJ, food for children & volunteers, etc.

 
Kindergarten Screening and Orientation

Description:  

The committee is responsible for providing small gifts for the children visiting Memorial School for kindergarten screening and orientation, assisting as needed on these days. Teachers usually show the children around the school.

 
Memorial School Dance / Sweetheart Dance
Chair:   Jessica Matos, Co-Chairs Dina O'Donnell & Evelyn Mannino 
Description:  

Memorial Elementary School dance for father/daughter & mother/son.  Dance to be held at MES gym and may include DJ, photo booth, decorations, refreshments, and corsages or boutonnieres available for purchase. This event debuted 2/17.

 
Move-A-Thon - Memorial School

Description:  

This event for Memorial School students takes place in the spring at the school. In 2014 the traditional Walk-A-Thon was changed to a "Move-A-Thon". The “Move-A-Thon” is an alternate way of getting the kids up and moving to different stations in a form of “circuit" training that is fun. The students also have the opportunity to be an active participant in raising money for special events and programs that the North Haledon PTO organizes at their school by collecting pledges for the circuits they complete.  

The committee chairperson(s) for this event is responsible for working the school administration on date, time, booking and organizing the days activities; as well as organizing volunteers to help out the day of the event.

 
North Haledon Day
Chair:   NHPTO Execturive Board
Description:  

North Haledon Day, a town event, usually takes place in September/October. The NHPTO, along with other town organizations, has a table/booth set up for the day selling NH School Items and making people aware of what we do. On this day we usually have a dunk tank or other fun fundraiser. The committee is responsible for organizing volunteers to sit in the dunk tank/other surprise activity, sell tickets, man the table, etc.

 
Rock 'n Run for Education

Description:  

The school coordinators organize the class captains and class parents for each school. They are responsible for organizing the Class Parent & Class/Grade Captain (& Committee Chair) Meeting that takes place after the first PTO Meeting first Monday in October. At which time they will review all that the Class Parents, Grade Captains (and Committee Chairs) need to know for the upcoming school year and distribute folders with valuable information.

School Kidz Supply Kits

Help the NHPTO provide a convenient service by organizing the sale of school supplies. The School Kidz kits are custom made by the company for our school system and each grade. Help distribute flyers for each grade, collect orders, place order & distribute to HMS & Memorial.

 
School Picture Day - High Mountain School

Description:  

Two parent volunteers needed to help organize students. Same parents can help the whole day or different pairs of parents can be scheduled in shifts.

TREP$ at High Mountain School...Fall

Description:  

Parent Volunteers (from 6th, 7th, 8th grade) needed to assist Teachers prior to and the night of TREP$ Marketplace. A limited number of children are able to participate, so if you are interested in volunteering you may want to wait to see if your child is a participant.

Some suggestions in the past have been to have music piped in and decorate the entrance.  Superintendent approval is required for PR.

 
Tricky Tray

Description:  

This is the North Haledon PTO's BIGGEST fundraiser of the year. It usually takes place in April each school year.

The committee chair and co-chair are responsible for all aspects of this main event from finding a venue (we have been using The Tides); booking a date; choosing the food; soliitation of baskets from businesses, family, friends and the school community to basket coordination; set up; clean up; and thank yous....Did I miss anything?!?!

 
Trunk or Treat Halloween Party - Memorial School

Description:  

This committee is responsible for organizing all that is involved in Memorial School's Annual "Trunk or Treat" Halloween Party. It is for MES students and their siblings and take place at HMS.

In the past, we have gotten a DJ, science or magic show, candy for car trunks, photo area, games & contests, snacks for the children, pumpkin decorating and/or anything else that would be fun for the children.
